Supported POS Systems and Integration Options
Last updated: March 23, 2026
Maple integrates with a wide range of point-of-sale systems to streamline your restaurant's online ordering, menu management, and order processing. Whether you use a major POS platform or a less common system, there's a setup path that works for you. Below you'll find answers to the most frequently asked questions about POS compatibility and integration options.
What POS systems does Maple integrate with?
Maple offers pre-built integrations with most major POS systems, including:
Toast
Square
Clover
Shift4 / SkyTab
Lightspeed
Aloha
Stream
Quantic
Smile
Lava
Chef (including Chef 4)
Lighthouse
Chefboard
The most up-to-date and authoritative list of supported integrations is always available on the Maple website's Integrations page. If you're unsure whether your POS is supported, check there first or ask your onboarding specialist.
What types of integrations does Maple offer?
Maple provides several integration approaches depending on your POS system:
Direct integrations — You log into your POS account during onboarding and authorize Maple to access your menu and location data. Available for systems like Toast, Square, and Clover.
Marketplace integrations — Some POS systems (such as Shift4/SkyTab) connect through their marketplace. You navigate to your POS marketplace, find Maple in the alphabetical listing, and link your accounts using the same email address associated with your Maple account.
Aggregator-based integrations — Certain POS systems connect through intermediary platforms (e.g., Stream Order). Maple coordinates these connections on your behalf during onboarding.
How do I set up my POS integration?
There are two options for completing your POS integration:
Guided setup — Your onboarding specialist walks you through the entire integration process during your onboarding call. You'll log into your POS account, authorize Maple, and sync your menus in real time. This typically takes 15–30 minutes.
Backend setup — You provide your POS access credentials and necessary permissions to the Maple team, and they configure the integration on your behalf. This is a good option if you prefer not to walk through the technical steps yourself.
Choose whichever option works best based on your technical comfort level and availability.
What happens if my POS system isn't supported?
If Maple doesn't currently integrate with your POS system, you still have options:
Tablet and printer setup — Maple provides a dedicated tablet and/or printer to your restaurant. Orders taken by the AI voice agent are sent directly to this hardware, and you manage them independently of your POS.
Manual menu upload — You can provide your menu as a PDF, online menu link, or other format. The Maple setup team will convert it into the system for you. This process typically takes 2–3 business days.
Feature request — If you'd like Maple to support your specific POS in the future, your onboarding specialist can document this as a feature request for the product team.
Examples of POS systems that are not currently supported include AST (legacy systems), Linus International, Otter, and Salido. If you use one of these, the tablet/printer or manual upload path is recommended.
What data syncs between my POS and Maple?
Data flows one-directionally from your POS to Maple:
Menu items, categories, modifiers, and pricing are pulled from your POS into Maple
Item availability (e.g., 86'd/out-of-stock items) syncs automatically so your ordering channels stay current
Location and business details are imported during setup
Maple pushes orders back to your POS for kitchen management and processing, but it does not modify menu items, categories, or settings in your actual POS system. All menu edits must originate from your POS side.
Do I have to sync my entire menu?
No. During setup, you choose exactly which menus and sections to sync to Maple. For example, you might sync your Food and Soft Drinks menus while excluding Beer, Wine, or specific meal periods like Lunch.
Maple also provides:
Toggle switches to control which items and variants are visible to customers, without changing anything in your POS
Dropdown menu switching to manage multiple menus separately (e.g., breakfast menu vs. dinner menu)
Menu schedule configuration to set availability hours on a per-day basis
Daily specials as separate menus that can be drafted before publishing
How do menu updates work after initial setup?
With POS integration — Any updates you make in your POS (new items, price changes, 86'd items) sync automatically to Maple. You can also trigger a manual resync from the POS Platform section in your Maple dashboard.
Without POS integration — Menu changes must be entered manually in the Maple Portal, or you can contact the Maple team to coordinate updates.
If you're planning a major menu change or seasonal swap, the Maple team can coordinate the transition and update your integrated menus accordingly.
Does Maple sync with third-party delivery platforms?
Yes. Updates made through the Maple integration can sync across third-party delivery platforms including DoorDash, GrubHub, and Seamless. This eliminates the need to manually update each delivery service separately.
Maple also integrates with online ordering partners like Bento Box and supports connections with Stripe for payment processing.
Does POS integration affect payment options?
Yes, your POS system can determine which payment methods are available:
Toast supports both pay-by-link and in-store payment options
Shift4 currently supports pay-by-link payments only
Orders paid via Maple's payment links will display on your POS (e.g., Clover) and show as Paid status after proper integration
Your onboarding specialist will configure the appropriate payment options based on your POS system.
Can I integrate multiple locations with different POS systems?
Yes. Maple supports multi-location setups, and each location can use a different POS system. For example, one location might use Toast while another uses Clover. Each location's integration is configured independently during onboarding, and you can add additional locations after your initial setup.
Why should I use POS integration instead of manual setup?
POS integration offers several advantages:
Automatic menu synchronization — No manual data entry required
Real-time inventory updates — 86'd items sync automatically across all channels
Faster setup — Integrated customers can go live in as little as 15–30 minutes
Higher retention — Data shows that POS-integrated restaurants are approximately twice as likely to remain active compared to those using manual menu entry after the first few weeks
Reduced errors — Eliminates discrepancies between your POS and online ordering menus
