Clover POS Integration Troubleshooting

Last updated: March 23, 2026

Connecting your Clover POS system to Maple is typically a quick process, but you may occasionally run into issues during setup, authorization, or menu synchronization. This guide covers the most common Clover integration problems, explains why they happen, and walks you through how to resolve them.

Integration Must Be Completed via Web Browser (Not Clover Go or POS Device)

Symptom: You can't find the Maple integration, marketplace, or app options in your Clover Go mobile app or directly on your Clover POS terminal.

Cause: The Clover integration with Maple is a web-based integration. It must be accessed through a web browser at clover.com — not through the Clover Go mobile app or directly on your POS device. Clover Go has inherent limitations and does not support adding new apps or third-party integrations.

Fix:

  1. Open a web browser on a computer or laptop (recommended for full functionality).

  2. Go to clover.com and log in with your Clover credentials.

  3. Navigate to Settings, then look for sections labeled Marketplace, Integrations, or Apps.

  4. Search for and install the Maple integration from there.

Tip: If you don't have access to a laptop, you can attempt to use a mobile web browser to access clover.com, but full functionality is not guaranteed. If needed, you can complete account creation on your phone first and finish the POS integration portion during a follow-up session with our team.

Clover Authorization Does Not Redirect Back to Maple

Symptom: After completing the Clover authorization step, you are not automatically redirected back to the Maple portal. The screen stays on Clover or shows a blank page.

Cause: The redirect from Clover back to Maple occasionally fails to trigger after the authorization flow completes. This can happen due to browser settings, pop-up blockers, or session timeouts.

Fix:

  1. Open a new browser tab.

  2. Navigate to app.mapleinc.com.

  3. Click the blue rocket icon to re-enter the onboarding flow.

  4. Select Get Started to continue where you left off.

  5. Your Clover authorization should already be saved — you can proceed to the next step without re-authorizing.

Integration Connected to the Wrong Clover Account

Symptom: After connecting Clover, you see menu items, locations, or data from an old or inactive Clover account instead of your current one.

Cause: During the authorization step, you may have been logged into an old or incorrect Clover account. The integration linked to whichever account was active in your browser session at the time.

Fix:

  1. Log out of all Clover accounts in your browser.

  2. Go to clover.com and log in with the correct credentials for your current, active location.

    • To verify your credentials: go to Settings > Profile in your Clover dashboard to view your saved login information.

    • If you're not the account admin, ask the account holder to provide admin credentials or grant you permission.

  3. Contact the Maple support team and request that the old account be disconnected from the backend.

  4. Once disconnected, re-authorize the integration using your correct Clover account credentials.

Menu Sync Is Taking a Long Time or Appears Stuck

Symptom: After authorizing the Clover integration, the menu synchronization seems to hang or takes longer than expected. The sync progress doesn't appear to complete.

Cause: Menu synchronization pulls all of your menu items and categories from Clover into Maple. Depending on the size of your menu, this process can take several minutes. It runs in the background and does not require you to stay on the sync screen.

Fix:

  1. Look for the Clover menu sync option on the left-hand side of the onboarding flow — it may appear as a grayed-out section.

  2. Click it to initiate the sync if it hasn't started automatically.

  3. You do not need to wait on this screen. You can continue with other onboarding steps (such as entering your email address and business information) while the sync completes in the background.

  4. If the sync still hasn't completed after 10–15 minutes, try refreshing the page at app.mapleinc.com and checking the sync status again.

  5. If the issue persists, contact Maple support for assistance.

Menu Modifiers Are Missing After Sync

Symptom: After the menu sync completes, your menu items appear in Maple but some or all modifiers (e.g., size options, add-ons, toppings) are missing.

Cause: Modifiers may not always fully export from Clover during the automatic sync process. This can happen if modifiers are not properly associated with menu items in your Clover dashboard or if the sync encountered a partial error.

Fix:

  1. Log in to your Clover dashboard at clover.com.

  2. Verify that all modifiers are correctly assigned to their respective menu items.

  3. Manually export all modifiers from your Clover dashboard to ensure they are available for Maple to pull.

  4. Return to the Maple portal and trigger a new menu sync, or contact Maple support to assist with re-importing the missing modifiers.

"Pay by Link" Payment Option Not Available

Symptom: Your Clover integration only shows "Pay in Store" as a payment option. The "Pay by Link" option is not available.

Cause: Earlier versions of the Clover integration had API limitations that restricted payment options to "Pay in Store" only. An updated version now supports both "Pay in Store" and "Pay by Link" (processed through Stripe). However, if your integration was set up before this update, it needs to be refreshed to access the new options.

Fix:

  1. Uninstall the Maple app from your Clover integration.

  2. Reconnect the Clover integration through the Maple portal to refresh the connection.

  3. After reconnecting, both "In-Store" and "Pay by Link" payment options should be available.

  4. If the new options still don't appear after reconnecting, contact Maple support for further assistance.

Clover Login Required During Setup

Symptom: You're unsure whether you need to log into your Clover account during the Maple integration setup, or you're being prompted for Clover credentials unexpectedly.

Cause: The integration requires you to authorize Maple to access your Clover account. This is a standard OAuth authorization step that requires you to be logged into your Clover POS account.

Fix:

  1. Have your Clover login credentials ready before starting the integration.

  2. When prompted during the Maple onboarding flow, log in to your Clover account to complete the authorization.

  3. If you don't remember your credentials, go to clover.com > Settings > Profile to retrieve them, or ask another admin on your account.

No Additional Charges for the Integration

If you're concerned about extra costs: the Maple and Clover integration does not incur any additional charges from Maple. There are no hidden fees for connecting your Clover POS to the Maple platform.

General Troubleshooting Tips

If you're experiencing an issue not listed above, try these steps:

  • Use a desktop web browser — always access the integration through clover.com on a computer for the best experience.

  • Clear your browser cache and try again if pages aren't loading correctly.

  • Verify you're logged into the correct Clover account — especially if you manage multiple locations.

  • Refresh the Maple portal at app.mapleinc.com if the onboarding flow seems stuck.

  • Contact Maple support if you need backend changes such as disconnecting an old account or forcing a menu re-sync.
